The Swamp Rabbit Inn is a hidden gem in downtown Greenville. The location is perfect...right by the Reedy River Park. The room was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. I liked that we could made our own eggs, bacon, bagels, yogurt and granola. My favorite thing about this place is the free access to bikes and the Swamp Rabbit trail, which is right around the corner. The only thing my hubby was disappointed about was the TV, which was really hard to figure out.
Booked months ago. Plan was to rest in room by watching a movie before going to Peace center for concert. No tv service. I did read email that came with instructions. "Use large remote first, then small one". There was no large one and NO response from elusive owner. Had I read reviews before booking i would not have booked. And won't ever again. At this point I am intrigued by the person running the inn. I had a VRBO house for a while and knew to be successful you must be available to answer and help with an issues. No books to borrow, but I did find a 2018 people magazine. Inn needs some TLC and attention to guests.
Thoroughly disappointed. I was looking forward to a quiet getaway at a local B&B, but unfortunately, this inn fell short of my expectation. We stayed in the Owl room on the first floor. The room itself was fine, but the bathroom had many problems. There were patches & holes in the wall, the toilet ran anytime someone in the house used their own bathroom, and there were sugar ants in the shower. Additionally, the wifi didn’t work the entire time we were there. My boyfriend reached out multiple times to the management company about the wifi & ants, but never received a response. The walls are thin & floors quite creaky, which is to be expected with an older house. The best thing about our stay was the location of the inn - it’s very walkable to downtown GVL. Even with this, I wouldn’t stay here again nor would I recommend this inn to someone else. I hope the owners take the time to address these issues before the house falls into further despair.
This is a boarding house, its not a real B&B, you will never see the owner, there is a shared kitchen for you to make your food. You pay for a room, but you have to pay an extra $10 for a cleaning fee. Why you're booking is not a flat rate is puzzling. There is ONE AC for UPSTAIRS and ONE AC for DOWNSTAIRS, so you better hope the people in the house like your temperature. My bed was noisy as I tossed and turned, sheets were cheap, it was exactly what I paid for, basic necessities. I would not stay here again, it was cheap and I paid a cheap rate for the room. Pay a bit more and stay at a better place.
In the past I had rated this as a 5 but based on my last stay a couple of weeks ago, I would have to say it's declined considerably. The room now would be a 1 due to the couch being broken and thus the extra bed also broken. The service would also be a 1 because there was no response. We stayed on a Friday night and there were sirens throughout the night from midnight til 4am so not very relaxing or restful if trying to get a good night's sleep. Personally, would not recommend nor will I stay there again. However, the location is a 5 as it's still walking distance to downtown!
